FAQ

Does Airbnb collect Alaska lodging tax?
Alaska has no statewide sales tax or lodging tax; bed taxes and sales taxes are set by cities and boroughs. Airbnb's Alaska page lists the taxes it collects locally, including Anchorage's 12% room tax. Hosts remain responsible for any other local taxes.
Do I need to register with Anchorage if I only rent on Airbnb?
Anchorage's Treasury Division says an operator renting exclusively through a registered hosting platform does not need Treasury's Certificate of Registration. Operators who also rent elsewhere generally must register.
What about taxes outside Anchorage?
Local rates and rules vary. The State Assessor's office directs businesses to their local government for sales and bed tax rules and forms.
