FAQ
- Does Airbnb collect Florida sales tax on my rental?
- Airbnb's Florida tax page says it collects the 6% state sales tax and the county discretionary sales surtax on reservations of 182 nights and shorter. It also collects county tourist development taxes, but only in the counties its page lists.
- Who handles the county tourist development tax?
- The Florida Department of Revenue says some counties have the state administer their local transient rental taxes, while in other counties those taxes are reported and paid directly to the county. Sales tax and surtax always go to the Department of Revenue. Check Airbnb's page and your county to see whether your county's tax is covered.
- Are there city taxes too?
- Some places add their own tax, such as a municipal resort tax. Airbnb's page lists a few, such as the Surfside resort tax. Check with your city and county.
